Hi, we're Malin & Belize

Belize is a 4-year-old Alaska husky, she grew up as a sled dog but now lives with me and my partner Leif in Oslo, Norway. She is a better adventure partner than most humans I know.

This site and our instagram exist because of her — but we also want it to be for you: dog owners who want to try new activities with their dogs but don't always know where to start. I know that it can feel overwhelming, we have been there too.

What we share on the Huskyblizz website is our reflections and experiences from activities with Belize and learnings from our community.

How we got here

Belize wasn't always the confident and social, up-for-anything dog that she is today. Her life changed overnight when we picked her up. She left her home where she lived with 10+ other huskies and moved into our apartment. To her, we were two strangers who removed her from the life she knew.

Belize is our first dog. We decided early to be patient and calm, and to give her as much time as she needed to adapt to us and her new environment. Week by week, we saw her change and become more affectionate, confident, playful and full of life.

As first-time dog owners and first-time husky owners, we wanted to do everything right to keep her happy and fulfilled. We bought gear for every activity, reached out in dog communities, made a lot of new friends and tried different activities to find out what we preferred doing together. Our main activities together with Belize are cross-country skiing, ski touring and hiking — this way, we can keep her happy all year round.

Dog gear guides — honest reviews and recommendations, tested on a dog that pulls, jumps and is full of energy. Guides for different needs and activities.

The lifestyle — adventure re-caps and a peek into life with a husky.

Local guides — we travel a lot to the west coast of Norway and Sweden. We'll share local tips for these areas and activities for these areas, both with and without dogs.
